First Critique and First Sketchbook Assignment

Just wanted to reiterate what is due at your first drawing critique on Monday June 11th:

Two charcoal drawings of the still life that is set up in class; These two drawings should be done on the better "Sketch" paper (not the newsprint paper);
One of the drawings should be a "wide angle view" of the still life....fill the page with as much of the still life as possible.
The other drawing should be a "close up view" of the still life.

Again, Black and White areas only. No lines and no values/gradations.
Think about the composition of what you are drawing....how interesting is the composition?

Think about the distribution of weight (meaning the balance of black vs white areas.)

Also do your drawing depict something in the still life? Are you able to distinguish what the objects are through your Black/White use?

Each Drawing counts 50% each for the first critique.

SKETCHBOOKS will be due next Wednesday, June 13th.
These should have at least 10 black and white (positive/negative) drawings in your book.
I would suggest you use graphite and not charcoal unless you can spray it from being so messy.
These 10 drawings do not have to be from the class still life...it can be from your own room, home, yard, business, etc.
I would suggest you stay away from the figure or cartoon drawings and instead draw things that are more static...like objects.

One Drawing per page. 10 pages minimum.
